ROBERT GUSTAFSON
NORWAY- Robert O. Gustafson age 81 of Norway, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain, MI.
He was born on October 28, 1928 in Norway, the son of the late Oscar and Mary (Brackett) Gustafson.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was the manager of Norway Needle Craft until 1960. Went to work for Bob’s Homes until 2007, when he retired.
Bob married Alice Pakula on September 30, 1961 at St. Mary’s Church in Quinnesec.
He was one of the founding members of the Norway Area Community Credit Union, and a board member for 50 years.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to camp “Bell”, especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Alice, sons Robert (Janet) Gustafson, Jr. of Norway and James (Lauri) Gustafson of Norway; daughter Mary Ann (Bob) Palomaki of Iron Mountain; grandchildren Nelson, Sadie, Hunter and Hailey; many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his brothers Wallace and Keith Gustafson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 3 from 10-11 a.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in
Norway.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ortman Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Sullivan, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery. |
